Travel Day 678 – Gili Air, INDONESIA
After the relaxed daycation ended up being quite busy and after there had possibly been one Bintang too much involved, the day today on Gili Air started really, really slowly…
Instead of spending time in the heat of the beach, it seemed a rather good idea to have some breakfast in the shade and relax, before it was time again to find a nice place for lunch. While there were quite a few restaurants lining the beach front of Gili Air, the only real problem of the day was making a decision of which one to actually pick. But luckily this wasn’t a real problem and so we found ourselves soon resting once more on one of the laid-back open bamboo chairs and enjoying a nice local meal with views of the beach and the sea…
Unfortunately this was already supposed to be my last day on Gili Air and of course it was imperative that I followed the routine and tradition of the past two days. So, after being able to leave the comfort of the beach chairs, I walked once more to the other end of the island and enjoyed the evening sun at the empty beach. And after watching the sunset over Gili Meno for the very last time, the traditional walk around the rest of the island had to follow. Some fresh red snapper dinner right at the beach once more completed this laid-back routine day on Gili Air. It had been a nice and relaxed stay on the island and I was already looking forward to coming back next time when in Indonesia…

That is such a peaceful spot for a sunset, Dennis. And the red snapper you mention just makes the evening better, doesn’t it?
Cheers!

Thank you Vid! Yeah, Gili Air was definitely a very nice and peaceful place to be. The beaches were nice and empty, the sunsets were really great and of course the red snapper evening meal did the rest to ensure that the time spent in the Gilis remained unforgotten…

Sounds like a great routine. I’m planning on visiting the Gili Islands soon, did you check out the other ones or just stay on Air?

Hi Jon, great to hear that you are going to visit the Gilis. I actually never made it to Meno, but at least I checked out Gili Trawangan. Unfortunately it wasn’t really my cup of tea, but feel free to have a look at the post for a better idea why…

Hi Dennis, It’s been great reading your travelling blogs. M feeling jealous of the traveller’s life you are living.
I am planning to travel Bali in March 2015 with my wife for 7 days.
Can you sugesst a good itinerary for these 7 days wherein I can have a good time roaming around some good temples and other eye pampering places along with a dive for snorkeling/sea walking/scuba?
I’ll be eager to check out your advice of planning the Bali trip.
