Travel Day 864 – Kolkata, INDIA
After two great days, unfortunately this one was not quite as great since I woke up with a stomach ache and the realization that this would be nothing but a Miserable Sick Day…
After a banana and lots of tea for breakfast, I dragged myself to my Tabla class. This time I wasn’t going to the class alone because another student had arrived and we would be studying together for the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately I was not a very good company on our early morning walk since not only my stomach was upset, but I was also developing a headache and feeling quite exhausted…
Our class then turned out to be a listening class for us, as we found out that this day had been set up as a rehearsal for a Tabalphilia concert. This concert was supposed the resemble an orchestra of Tablas and so many local senor students showed up over the course of the morning and practiced together with our teacher. Actually all the people present in the room took turns in playing different parts of the composition and we were lucky enough to be in the middle of it all as the only audience…
While it was great to listen to all these people play, my physical condition made it quite difficult to fully appreciate the good music and I was very much relieved as we were sent off to practice at home. But as soon as we got back to the hostel, all I was able to do was pass out on my bed, sleep all afternoon and try to recover from the stomach bug…
By the time evening came, I was in no decent shape, but at least I managed to get some fresh air while going for a walk in the area. I really enjoyed seeing a bit of our local Kolkata, even if it was at night, but after the walk it was about time to fall back into bed to conclude this undesired and Miserable Sick Day in India…
