Travel Day 939 – Amritapuri Ashram, Kerala, INDIA
Great, my finger was infected, I had pain in my hand and I couldn’t do Seva or practice Tabla any more, but despite all that I was already off to better things…
I had signed up for a two-day class to learn the IAM Technique, the Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique and even if I was not feeling super happy today due to my finger, I was still committed to do my meditation class. It actually began already yesterday evening with a quick introduction and the signing of a long and quite detailed legal waver…
We basically had to sign our life away and promise to keep everything learned during this class as a complete secret, never tell or tech any other person and not even practice the IA Meditation in any public place where people could observe the procedure. This seemed all really silly to me, but for what it’s worth I still wanted to try it out and see what this secret was all about…
So my day today began really early as we had to attend the 5am puja in the small temple that used to be Amma’s cow shed. This little ceremony was held with the intent to give us the chance to ceremonially burn our ego in a little fire procedure. Even I my ego was probably still asleep at this early hour, it was still a nice ceremony and good start of the day…
The rest of the day was then filled with IA Meditation classes, theory and praxis. As it turned out the whole package was a rather rigid bundle consisting of yogic breathing exercises and guided visualizations while meditating. Each item was timed in seconds and the whole package while executed continuously was done in about 40 minutes. But while everything was all treated as a secret was still beyond my wildest imaginations…
Overall the Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique was quite enjoyable, especially because it involved little exercises rather than just sitting around, but by then end of the afternoon I hat to part from the class and visit the hospital again. Fearing the worst, this time luckily a change of bandage and the application of some creams seemed enough. So even if my finger was still hurting and swollen, it was slowly getting better and at least I had a much better day than yesterday… : )
