Travel Day 951 – Amritapuri Ashram, Kerala, INDIA
Unfortunately I never managed to see the sunrise after Shivarati as Amma’s dancing ended around 1am and while sitting at the beach and watching the stars, I fell asleep by about 3am…
So this morning started obviously rather slowly, but since it was the second to last day before Amma would leave, it was still really busy. First I had to do my canteen work which I always enjoyed, but since the weather was getting hotter and hotter, this job became increasingly sweatier. This resulted in me having to take a shower and a rest after finishing my shift…
In the afternoon Amma was scheduled to come one last time to the beach for a short meditation and a little lecture with questions and answers. This time I made sure to be there early enough to get a really nice seat close to her to see how the experience was different from the other times when I could only follow from the distance…
While it was very nice to be closer to her and in the higher energy around her, the teaching itself was unfortunately not as good as others had been. She really only asked a quick question and mostly local people tried to answer it while talking for as long as they possibly could in their local language. It was almost funny to see how certain people were simply hugging the microphone and obviously Amma was too nice to tell anyone off…
After Amma’s last beach lecture I decided to fully join the Bhajans, the devotional singing. By now I knew most of the songs and I actually really enjoyed hearing them and clapping along with the beat. Only the end part of the musical experience where everyone had to throw the hands in the air and scream ‘yeah’ was still a bit on the strange side for me and even now I couldn’t convince my arms to participate…
The rest of the evening was then reserved for a teaching where questions were answered by one of Amma’s closest disciples. Even if this person was a bit too excited about everything she was talking about, it was still very nice to hear a third person explaining certain things around the ashram and about the teachings of Amma…
And with that, it had yet been another busy day at the ashram and I still couldn’t imagine that all of this would end already in two days time…
