Travel Day 991 – Chennai to Delhi, INDIA
It was already my last day in India and unfortunately it was nothing more than an Active Travel Day…
After spending two days with Amma, today felt obviously a little bit empty again and besides sleeping-in, packing and getting some nice food, there was not much else to do. My friend was heading back to Tiruvannamalai and my only mission of the day became the printing of my flight ticket. Not only was there barely any internet around in the area, but also the power cuts made it quite a challenge to get this seemingly easy talk accomplished…
Luckily I succeeded just in time to take a rickshaw to the airport. Wow, that was it. My time in India was already over. But as much as I would have liked to stay longer, I was also looking forward to Nepal and some cooler weather. So I said good-bye to southern India, boarded the plane and left for Delhi where I had to spend my last night in India in true travel spirit while sleeping on a bench at the airport… : )

For next time All airports (definitely the major ones) allow you to print tickets right there. Free in some place, and about Rs100 in others

Thank you Surya, that is good to know! I have had incidences where you needed to show the ticket to actually enter the airport. In Kolkata for example you actually had to pay an entrance fee without a ticket, but maybe that doesn’t apply everywhere. In any case, it’s probably better to be safe than sorry…

You can actually just show them the ticket on your smartphone and go in. I’ve successfully tried that in Delhi, Calcutta and Chennai. Only ‘visitors’ are asked to pay, not the travelers themselves
But yeah, better safe than sorry

One problem is that not having a ticket to show actually makes you a visitor in the eyes of the security and the other is that I don’t actually own a smartphone…
